13 Days...Take Heart...You have a Cheerleader

Did you watch any football this week? I love college football. The drama of the change of leads. The passion of the fans in the stands cheering on their team to victory. The athletes on the field willing to risk their bodies because their hearts are dedicated to one goal: Winning the Game.

In all sports there is something called the "home field advantage". Home field advantage means that you know the quirks of your own field better than the opposition. But more importantly the advantage comes in having your fans outnumber the oppositions fans giving you an incalcuable advantage.

Everytime the home team loses ground the fans in the stands pull together and try and push the team forward by sheer will. When the home team goes ahead, the fans cheer louder, voicing their approval. Because the home team fans have the same goal as the team: Winning the Game.

Some days, you have the home field advantage and some days you are a visitor. When you started school this month you may have started in a brand new building with all new classmates and you felt like a visitor.  Or maybe you are back for another year in the same place so you already know all of the ins and outs of your school building and even most of the teachers so you were the home team with a leg up on the competition.

Through out life, through out these next few months of school, you will have days when you are the home team and days when you are the visiting team, but regardless of which position you play you have the best fan section ever: God.

In all situations God is cheering you on to do the right thing through His will.  In our scripture reference today, we read about King David (the old man who was once the boy who slew Goliath) giving instruction to his chosen son Solomon about how to build the temple. Building any building can be a daunting task, but building THE Temple to honor God and house His Word would be an overwhelming task to even the greatest of men or women and David knew this, so he told Solomon, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished." (1 Chronicles 28:20)

Be strong and courgeous and do the work...do not be discouraged for the LORD God is with you...He will not fail you or forsake you...

This is God's message to each of us today as well...Be strong...be courageous...do the work...do not be discouraged...GOD is with you...God is cheering you on...God is helping you.

God is giving you the home team advantage even when you are on the visiting team.

Scripture Reference (it is a little bit long...but it is good stuff)

Fun Fact...
10,000 workers took an unpaid holiday to march in the first Labor Day parade.

...And today everyone in the country is given a holiday to recognize their efforts...pretty cool.

Question of the Day...
What is your favorite cheer?
