The Courage to be Pulled from the Pit

Do you ever feel like you are sinking? Like the world around you is coming in too fast and too chaotic to understand? Like you are barely able to breath...

These feelings of being overwhelmed are pretty common, but the commonality of the feelings doesn't make them any less real or any less terrifying. As Christians we often feel like we have to have all of the right answers and always be positive even in the midst of the most trying circumstances, but it is okay to admit that you are scared; even Christians have bad days.

Life isn't perfect...that is what heaven is promised to be. We will have days when everyone and everything seems to be against us and we will want to say:

I'm feeling terrible—I couldn't feel worse!
(Psalm 119:25 - MSG)

And it is okay to feel those feelings. What is wrong is to allow yourself to stay put in a self-pity wallow. As Christians we will face tremendous obstacles - we have through out history - but God calls us to turn over our fears, our doubts, our anxiety to Him. Through His power and His miracles, He will guide us out of the pit of despair in which we might find ourselves.

Having the courage to ask for help and guidance when you are feeling overwhelmed and under appreciated is hard, but part of the beauty of our faith is being vulnerable and asking for help. God will put people in your path to help you...to pull you out of your pit...and to drag you safely to the shore. You need to be bold enough to ask.

Scripture

Quote of the Day

“Life is all about timing... the unreachable becomes reachable, the unavailable become available, the unattainable... attainable. Have the patience, wait it out It's all about timing.”
Stacey Charter

Question of the Day

When have you cried out to Jesus to rescue you from the "pit"?
